You guys, I cannot believe we are in the month of July. JULY, the month that our baby is supposed to be here. I am about equal parts excited and freaked out as our delivery window approaches, but hey, he has to come out one way or another, AMIRIGHT? Right. Anyway, we recently had our baby shower in New York and although we got all the big ticket items checked off our list, we were missing many of the smaller items we need to transition into life as a family of three.
I took one more trip to buybuy BABY and my cart runneth over! I stocked up on last-minute essentials and a few additional items my friends and loved ones said I needed upon bringing home our bundle of joy. The good news is, a lot of the things we purchased should last us through baby number two and beyond. Yes, I am already thinking about baby number two as I am remaining blissfully ignorant until the day my water breaks.
So what are my last minute essentials you ask? I will tell you.
Diapers and Wipes: I received recommendations from friends about diapers they like and dislike. Obviously, diapers are the one thing you cannot live without so we stocked up on both newborn and 0-3 month since we do not know how big this bambino will be upon his arrival. I am guessing they will all get used at some point or another. We chose mostly the Pampers Pure brand of both diapers and wipes and I also picked up a couple of packs of Water Wipes as I like to use them for myself as well.
Diaper Rash Cream: My mom swears by Desitin and will make you use it until she is blue in the face LOL. I did not want to be without ample amounts when she reports for Na Na duties at the end of the month. I have some friends that swear by Butt Paste, A + D and regular old coconut oil from head to toe.
Baby Monitor: There are so many fancy monitors on the market, but most of my friends told me to get a basic monitor with a screen. The wifi ones have a tendency to go offline and are rarely worth the price; however, if you do want to do luxury the Owlett also received great reviews!
Any and Everything From Fridababy: I had the honor of hearing the CEO of Fridababy speak at an event about a month ago. I was sent about four NoseFrida booger suckers by Cory’s co-workers and was told it was an item “I cannot live without”. Turns out Fridababy has a wide variety of products that help with everything from postnatal care for mommy to a gassy belly for baby. I loved this box set of their products and will be ready for all the fun icky stuff that I will hand over to Cory.
Extra Hats and Mittens: I know we live in Florida, but baby nails can be super sharp and with air conditioning everywhere, we want our little many to stay comfy and cozy! We will use hats and mittens early on and needed a few more pairs because well, I lose everything.
Breast Feeding Bras and Balm: I was packing my hospital bag before I left for California and realized I needed to prepare myself for all things boobie. I hear your nipples get really sore and you need easy access so I made sure to stock up on essentials like nipple balm and breastfeeding bras.
Pajamas With Easy Access: I am all about the pajama game these days! Cory hates it, but I literally can’t get enough of cozy pajamas. I had to find a few options that were boob friendly and figured gowns were the best way to go for now.
Baby Toys: We did not register for many toys and I know we will need more as the baby grows and advances, but I wanted to have a few things to hang and entertain him when he becomes a little more aware of his surroundings.
Honestly, other than snacks, flip flops and socks I think we are pretty much ready to get this show on the road at any time! Here is the link to our buybuy BABY registry so you can see some of the items we received and I will definitely keep you posted on anything I may have missed!
