Happy Monday Y’all! Cory and I were able to attend Dolphins Family Fit Fest on behalf of our friends Baptist Health South Florida. Ever since I began covering initiatives for Baptist Health South Florida, there has always been a theme: family and community come first. Dolphins Family Fit Fest was the perfect way to enjoy a day of health, wellness, fitness and to start the dialogue of healthy living through sports, free health screenings and physical activity! There was truly something for everyone at Dolphins Family Fit Fest and if you live in the south Florida area make sure to join register for the event next year!
Over 1,500 participants showed up for the third annual Dolphins Family Fit Fest and the energy in the Dolphins training facility was palpable! Check out the video below for highlights of the day from Baptist Health South Florida:
The highlight of my day was seeing the smiling faces on so many children and also the enthusiasm for making healthy choices!
I stopped by the Five a Day area that tackled the importance of building a healthy plate and getting more nutrient dense fruits and vegetables into your diet! I was offered some great tips from the nutrition team at Batist Health:
Tip 1: Serve fruits and vegetables family style so that everyone can keep eating them throughout your meal together!
Tip 2: Always include at least ONE vegetable at every meal!
Tip 3: Keep healthy food in the house. If it is not there you are not going to eat it!
The best part about the community events with Baptist Health is that they usually offer free health screenings and events through the year. Family Fit Fest was no different. Attendees were able to screen and understand their BMI, cholesterol, blood glucose levels and more! As stated above, Baptist Health is committed to improving the health and wellness of our community. Baptist Health offers educational and free programs, health screenings, signature events, and access to several support groups throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties. Baptist Health also offers free monthly screenings. This month they are offering a free osteoporosis health scan!
And last but most certainly not least, Baptist Health introduced Carevenience at the event! Carevenience is the cure for inconvenient care. You can sign up, visit with a doctor and receive treatment…all from the comfort of your own home.
