Today, I am on the way to a photoshoot in New York City. I will get my hair and makeup done by a professional makeup artist. She will try her best to tame my unruly bed-head and make my recent chin breakout look non existent. An amazing art director will be there to tell me how to push body angels so that I look long, lean and athletic and a photographers lighting going off every frame will help to help make me look as ‘flawless’ as possible. For everything else, there’s photoshop. Photoshop that will make my skin lighter or darker, make fly- aways nonexistent, slim my nose and even in some cases lengthen my torso. I saw this video pop up on my newsfeed and it got me thinking…What will it take for women to realize that their flaws are what makes them special?
Each one of us is perfectly imperfect and in real life we all have flaws big and small. It is up to us to find beauty in our hearts. I loved this video and the message it sends. When these women see themselves as ‘perfect’ cover girls, they realize they love their true selves even better.
