How I Found My New Favorite Perfume From PHLUR
I’ve always been super particular when it comes to my perfumes and actually have passed on even wearing perfume for many reasons. So I never thought that finding fragrance online would make sense for me. But PHLUR makes the whole process transparent and enjoyable. It smells incredible, and I feel good knowing that my perfume isn’t harming my skin or the planet.
I’ve always try to pick the cleanest products with the most natural ingredients. Now that I am a mom it’s even more of a priority. I switched out a lot of my skincare products that I’ve been using for years, and when I turned my attention to my favorite perfume, I was pretty shocked at the lack of info displayed. After a quick google search, I learned that by law, fragrance companies don’t have to disclose what’s in their products! How nuts is that!? Most perfumes contain Parabens, Phthalates, Phenoxyethanol, and other ingredients I’d never heard, all of which can wreak havoc on your skin. Pretty scary stuff, which is why I was super excited to try PHLUR.
While browsing their site, I learned that PHLUR takes a different approach to perfume. The way they curate each scent is fascinating. Their team creates mood boards and music playlists that evoke emotions and places, and from there, master perfumers have free reign to create a totally unique scent. Each scent has its own personality. The beautiful imagery and music give you a sense of whether or not the scent will suit your taste.
If you’re still not sure (or, like me, you loved the sound of 3 of them!) you can sample 3 for just $18! After you live with each scent and pick a favorite, the $18 gets applied to your full-sized bottle. So basically I sampled for free. I tried Hanami, Olmsted & Vaux, and S.C. 59. I fell in love with Hanami! All of them were so unique and didn’t give me a headache like store-bought perfume. Hanami is the perfect scent for me because it’s not too overpowering, and has a subtle, floral aroma. You only need a little spritz, and the scent lasts all day. Plus, its non-toxic ingredients don’t irritate my skin.
And can we talk about how cute the packaging is?! The bottles are super sleek and sophisticated, not to mention good for the environment (another reason why PHLUR gets major brownie points from me). Most glass perfume bottles can’t be recycled due to the fact they have ink on them. PHLUR got around this by using vegetable ink to etch their branding, making it completely recyclable. They also ethically source the ingredients used in every scent, and won’t use ingredients that are overharvested.
