As #BreastCancer Awareness Month comes to a close, As #BreastCancer Awareness Month comes to a close, I wanted to finally share our story. This past year was met with some of the highest highs and lowest lows. We got lucky. Early detection and swift action. If I have any advice for those of you out there that found yourself as the primary caretaker while trying to raise littles. You cannot do this alone. Ask for help. Make tiny deposits in your own health and wellness. Rest whenever you can. Remember, there is power in positivity. To all the fighters and survivors….you got this!!! #breastcancersurvivor
I have partnered with @baptisthealthsf to share ou I have partnered with @baptisthealthsf to share our Breast Cancer Story. #AD Breast cancer was never in my family history or something we even considered, but it found us. Since I am half black and mom is half Ashkenazi, we did assumed we were at higher risk for genetic mutations. Thankfully, her genetic tests came back free of any genetic predispositions; however, since cancer was present in both breasts, she made the decision to remove the tissue and undergo a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. I truly believe that early detection, being surrounded by family and a positive attitude helped her overcome this with the utmost grace. From detection to surgery to reconstruction. She is a survivor through and through. Warning: These Rasberry Oat Bars are so delicious, Warning: These Rasberry Oat Bars are so delicious, they will be on repeat all year long. Feel free to change out the fruit or jam to taste! Ingredients: 2 C Quick Oats (Gluten free Preffered) 3/4 C Almond Flour 1/4 C Ground Flax or Chia Seeds 1/4 C Maple Syrup (Double for a sweeter bar) 1/4 C Melted Coconut Oil 1 tsp Vanilla Extract 1 Tsp Cinnamon 2 Pinches of sea salt 1 Egg low sugar fruit spread of you 1 overripe mashed banana Oil to grease your pan Coconut sugar for sprinkling Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cmbine oats, almond flour, ground flax/chia, cinnamon and salt. In a separate bowl mash banana, then add coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla and egg. Whisk together and then slowly combine to your oat mixture. Grease an 8 x8 pan or bar pan and layer oats, jam, oats. Sprinkle with a little coconut sugar and bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until firm to the touch. Check at 12 minutes and let cool. #oatrecipes

Yes, some will come and go, but those that stay should be cherished forever. Every chapter of my life has given me the blessing of friendships from childhood to college, Portland, Miami, California and now our forever.
