I was asked to participate in the #HallmarkAtWalgreens campaign, sponsored by Hallmark at Walgreens. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own. As always, thank you to all of my amazing readers and sponsors. Without you, this blog would not be possible.
Taylor Walker Fit….Wife. Foodie. Home Fitness Junkie. That is my byline line right? Since February is the month of L-O-V-E why not share some wife-life advice thanks to my friends over at Walgreens.
Remember your grade school days where you would pick out the perfect box of cards and write special notes to each one of your classmates? It was such a nerve-racking day. You would wait patiently for your tiny notes of love. Man! Those were the days. The days where you were validated by candy hearts and sweet nothings instead of likes and followers. In high school, friends and significant others stepped up their game, and sent chocolate roses to their friends and valentines. I tell you what, if my BFF was the only one who sent me a chocolate rose, I was elated! Who cares that it did not come from a love interest. I felt lots of love from my BFF and I had chocolate and that is all that mattered.
Fast-forward to 2017 and the same sentimental thoughts swirl around my head in February. Only now, instead of chocolate roses, I want something I can look back at years from now like the sweet messages in past Valentine’s Day Hallmark cards. Since the beginning of our relationship eight years ago, Cory and I have shared many holidays, birthdays, Valentine’s Days and many more “just because” moments of love. We always say that the most important part of a gift is not the actual gift itself, but the card and a special note from the person you love. There is no better feeling than getting back from a business trip only to open the front seat of the car to find a special Hallmark card and, the occasional, surprise gift. It is always a simple-yet sweet gesture that never goes un-noticed or un-rewarded, Wink-Wink-Wink.
As we approach Valentine’s Day, here is a little history for you. According to Wikipedia: The Valentine’s Day first became associated with romantic love within the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th-century, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “valentines”). In honor of tradition and love of friendship, family and wife-life, I have turned to #HallmarkAtWalgreens for some help!
